INFORMATION BULLETIN - FOR BOATS ON TRAILERS

You may arrive at the launch ramp any time before the Derby, however, we advise being there early Friday, or sooner.  Parking may fill up by Saturday morning.  If parking fills up, there will be parking available on Mindanao Way after launching.  Camping will be allowed in launch ramp parking area, Friday, Sat. Sun. ONLY.

You may launch your boat at any time.  If you need a slip for Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday, the following dock masters may be able to help you:

There is no check-in before fishing on Saturday morning.  Derby starts at sun-up on Saturday morning.  Fishing is limited to Santa Monica Bay, east of line from Point Dume to Point Vicente. There are two bait docks, one on each side of the Main Channel.  They will be open Friday until 6:00 P.M. and at 4:00 A.M. Saturday Overnight fishing is allowed on Saturday night.  Weigh-in is at 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Saturday and 12:00 noon to 3:00 P.M. Sunday.  Weigh-In is at the transient docks at the West End of Burton Chase Park.  It is between Basin G and Basin H.  Landmarks are two green canopies at shore side and a large statue of a helmsman at the end of the Park.  Also banners above the docks.  Everyone on your boat must be signed up for the Derby, if not it will disqualify the all anglers who are on the boat.  This does not apply to public sportfishing boats.

**Avoid  Parking  Citations  at  the  Launch  Ramp**

If you park your truck and trailer at the Launch Ramp, observe these few rules to avoid a citation.

The fee for parking your car and trailer is $7.00 for each 24 hours.  You may stay longer than 2 days.  Pay $7.00 per 24 hours in the automatic machine (Quarters, $1.00, $5.00, & credit cards) and receive a daily permit for each day.  Buy as many daily permits as you need and display them, date up on your dashboard.

If you intend to park more than two (2) days, notify Parking Authority by phone

(310.305.9534) with (1) car and trailer license plate nos. (2) arrival and departure dates.

(3)  your phone number, (4) reason for extension ( Halibut Derby). (5) description and color of your vehicle, (6) your name.  Use your cell phone or Parking Lot Pay Phone.  Your call will be answered by an automatic system.  Wait for prompts.

You can pay by check or credit card at Parking Concepts.  Coming out of Launch Ramp Parking, you are on Mindanao Way. Proceed to Admiralty Way, turn left.  Admiralty Way curves to the left.  Go another block to Palawan Way.  Turn left to 14110 Palawan Way.

You may detach your trailer and leave the parking lot for a maximum of two hours.  Phone Parking Authority (310.305.9534), and tell them your intention.

You may obtain additional information by phoning Halibut Derby Last Minute Sign-up from

3 P.M. to 8 P.M. April 1  to April 4,  (310.995.2292).

You may sleep in your vehicle ONLY on Wednesday, 4-2,  Thursday, 4-3, Friday, 4-4, Saturday 4-5. Sunday, 4-5.  ONLY  from 9:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. the next morning.  This is a special privilege, only for the Halibut Derby.  No sleeping allowed overnight at any other time.
